Feel the magical atmosphere and enjoy your stay in one of the oldest original houses in Sutherland, Stellar Dust Guesthouse.

 

Why Stellar Dust? 

The word “Stellar” means outstanding, wonderful, astronomical. It evokes a sense of excitement and, of course, is related to stars.

“Star Dust” is the romantic, dreamy name for tiny particles of dust, which appear as a cloud of stars. It also gives you a sense of sentiment. 

 

The word “dust” refers to the dirt roads in the area.

Therefore, Stellar Dust!

 

With such a name, Stellar Dust Guesthouse aims to offer outstanding and wonderful service to all their guests.

Welcome to our enchanting world of self-catering luxury—a guesthouse that unfolds like a captivating storybook, inviting you into a realm of comfort and elegance. With three private entrances, this sanctuary boasts four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cozy TV room, and a dining space designed for convivial gatherings of ten.

Each room, be it Room 1, 3, or 4, opens to a private entrance, promising an exclusive and personalized experience for our cherished guests. Room 1 beckons with a sumptuous Super King bed, with a shower only a step away, toilet, and basin—convenience seamlessly entwined with privacy.

Rooms 2 and 3, each adorned with two three-quarter beds, exude warmth and charm. Room 3 offers its guests a dedicated space with a shower, toilet, and basin, a haven for rejuvenation separates from the sleeping quarters.

For those desiring shared moments, Room 2 graciously allows the flexibility to share a bathroom with either Room 1 or Room 3, fostering connections while preserving individual comfort.

Step into the allure of Room 4, our family room with a private entrance, featuring a double bed and two three-quarter beds. Its en-suite bathroom offers a bath, toilet, and basin—a perfect haven for families.

Each room becomes a personal sanctuary, equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, ensuring relaxation is just a sip away. The tale continues in the TV room—a space of entertainment and leisure furnished with a TV boasting DSTV channels. Adjacent is the dining room, a canvas for shared memories, featuring a grand wooden table for ten, equipped with a fridge/freezer and microwave for communal use.

Visit a literacy museum, Sutherland Louw museum, at the home of two prominent Afrikaans poets and writers NP van Wyk Louw and his brother W.E.G Louw.

Tankwa Karoo National Park

 

Visit the Tankwa Karoo National Park that is located on the Southern boundary of the Northern Cape province with the Roggeveld escarpment to its East, Cederberg to its West and Klein Roggeveld mountains to its South.

This truly one of a kind national park can be reached in 4 hours from Cape Town by car.

Sutherland planetarium

 

Visit the Sutherland planetarium that educates and entices people to visit Sutherland and the surrounding area by showcasing the wonders of outer space.

The Sutherland planetarium welcomed a new member to the planetarium family , the new Astro amphitheater, outfitted with two powerful telescopes, provides an excellent nighttime stargazing experience.

Sterland Stargazing

 

You can also visit Sterland Stargazing. Stargazing sessions are offered nearly every night.

During the one hour stargazing session, you will be able to use one of six telescopes to observe the night sky.

Ensure to dress warmly, because it gets chilly in the evenings.

NG Church Sutherland

 

NG Church Sutherland.

The church in the main street of Sutherland is a must visit. Anglo-boer war soldiers took up residence in the church. The church also houses a rare German organ. You won’t regret setting aside 40 minutes of your busy day to see this magnificent example of Victorian architecture.

Die Ou Meule restaurant (Old Mill) offers light fare like pizza and boerewors as well as some of the best home cooked meals in the area.

 

The Blue Moon restaurant offers South African dishes, both modern and traditional are featured on the menu.

Boorgat restaurant and bar serves farm- to- table cuisine with a modern twist at a reasonable price
